Light the way

Went to Missionaries of Charity with my good friend, Lily, last Sunday. Since moving to Makati 5 years ago, I haven't been there in a long time and it was certainly an eye-opener. Truly, there's no better way to feel blessed and fortunate than visiting babies and children abandoned by their own parents. Or the lolo who was found wrapped in a sack and left for dead in Navotas.

My friend was teary-eyed hearing such stories, seeing the needy, feeling the sadness that hung in the air. As a counterpoint, the volunteers were a cheery lot, exuding true happiness in reaching out to those who desperately need hope and help. Had a fitful time sleeping last Saturday but curiously, I didn't feel that tired driving around and going from the home for the elderly to the orphanage. Going back to the Missionaries of Charity made me realize that I should be helping out more because in my seeming lack, there's plenty to share with others.

to those who want to light the way for others, the missionaries of charity has 18 satellite wards across the country. the main wards are right here in manila, along tayuman street in tondo. as one of the nuns said, they're in most need of people who would be willing to take the time to feed the babies. of course, supplies like bedsheets, pillow cases, blankets, clothes are very much appreciated along with baby formula, medicines and food items.

PS:  Belated birthday greetings to my good friends, D2, Angel & Chic. More blessings!
