My Christmas Reflection

Manila Cathedral Basilica Reflection
Manila Cathedral lit up for the Simbang Gabi
Admittedly, this year brought mixed fortunes to me.  Business can be better.  Work process can be a lot more efficient.  Billing and collection can be faster.  But no matter what my situation is right now, I really ought to count my blessings and be thankful just for being alive.  Watching the news about how Typhoon Sendong affected the southern part of the country, particularly Cagayan de Oro and Iligan, and seeing the toll on human lives and properties, I just can't fathom how the holidays would be for those people who've lost their homes or loved ones.  I personally reflect on the fact that Christmas is not just about expecting and receiving gifts but also about sharing what we have especially to those who are more needy.  And while there is a lot to be said about the issue of environmental degradation that contributed once again to this incident, it is clear that our our kababayans need help fast.   If you have it in your heart to give, send your donation to one of my favorite charities, CBNAsia, through www.obphil.com/sendong or through other organizations like the Philippine National Red Cross.  Have a blessed and meaningful Christmas!
