Contrary to popular belief, Corregidor is not part of Bataan but rather a municipality of Ternate, Cavite. It is thus, not at all involved in the Bataan death march. but it's got its own place in history. With its supplies from Bataan cut off, it was expected to fall to the Japanese in a matter of days following the fall of Bataan. Instead, the courageous men under the leadership of Gen. Wainwright stood their ground for almost a month. Considering the meager supplies, the condition of its fighters, among other things, it was simply amazing that the outnumbered and overpowered troops on the island lasted even beyond a week.
