Making Lola Ida smile

It's always a blessing to have good friends who'd go the extra mile to help. And help, bai Ferdz did when he helped me honor a promise I made to Lola Fiorestida, the resident of the oldest stone house in Batan Island, Batanes. I really put the plan in the backburner for a later date when I can afford to go back to Batanes so i can give Lola Ida the Reader's Digest issue that featured her. But out of the blue, Ferdz texted to meet last Sunday because he would go to Batanes the next day. Ironwulf said Lola Ida smiled when she got the magazine. The thought made me happy as well because making this woman - who has withstood a lifetime of hardships in this beautiful yet often tempestous island - smile, is indeed a priceless moment.
