Personal note: I'd like to put this up for my readers as bai Allan noted - our overnight liveaboard cost US$112 all-in. It comes to around 4,500pesos which may seem pricey but if one thinks about it, it's the price of a backpack or pair of jeans. The price includes transport to Halong Bay and back to Hanoi in a comfortable, a/c van; a guide; dinner, breakfast and lunch; a cool, cozy room with really nice t&b; boat trips and fees to selected karsts/islands on the itinerary. As I've noted earlier, it's advisable to book with reputable operators like Handspan to avoid being gypped by fraudulent operators in Halong Bay.

parang painting sa ganda!
thanks joanne. i thought so, too. it's one of my favorite halong shots, poles apart from my sunset shot :-)
ganda talaga ng blend ng mga islands dyan sa halong bay. ilang ako (dong) nga pala ang binabayaran dyan para bumyahe?
Ganda ng gradients ng mga karst dito.
dom, for the handspan overnighter, us$112 siya, full board including meals, transport from hanoi to halong and back, boating around the bay. there are other packages as well, visit mo www.handspan.com
bro wulf, onga eh. i thought it was a rather nice capture noong una. turned out to be even nicer than i thought
bai ito yung tipong hina-hang mo sa wall.
i think ang USD112 e sulit na sa ganitong trip.
bai allan, you think so? talaga? hmmm, i just might have it printed big and framed.
$112 is like 4,500pesos. may seem pricey but if we come to think about it, it's the price of a backpack or jeans. the fee covers everything - comfortable a/c van to halong bay and back to hanoi, a/c rooms, dinner, breakfast and lunch, boat trips to nearby karsts and the inland lagoon, a guide, fees to the amazing cave and islands to be visited. the rooms are cool and cozy, the comfort rooms are very good, the dining area is very airy and spacious. like ferdz, i would highly recommend handspan. i intend to book with them again if i come back to vietnam for their other destinations.
ganda! i agree, have it printed big then framed. an absolute beauty talaga.. (what's new?!)
one place in my wishlist...cebu pac may flight na kaso di masyado ganda sked
thanks so much arlene :-D that makes my day
tutubi, it's not so bad to take the red eye flight. it gives you a few hours of headstart :-)
Wow! Awesome shot! and ganda naman nito parang painting, hues of blue. I like it :)
hey millie, a millie-on thanks po, hehehe
wala akong masabi-wow! lang. hehe.
mukha na syang painting pero masarap pa ring i-paint. :D
2009, 2010, . .. makakapunta rin ako dyan!
hi there! thanks and i agree with you, it looks more like a painting than a capture. minor tweaks lang ito to bring out the layers but no major changes to the raw file :-) glad you liked it.
galeng galeng talaga ng photo na to. its a masterpiece (created by no less than a master of course) in composition. see how the two boats form a diagonal line. the eye first "lands" on the larger (nearer boat) and then you are drawn towards the smaller (caused by its being farther) one. then finally to the majestic karsts of varying hues. its so zen-like!
pahinge ng large print ha? hahahaha
Hey Oggie: Your Vietnam pix are so different from those that I and your friend Christian took when we visited Saigon -- mostly of him eating pho :) But then we're philistines. Your Halong Bay shot is very beautifull; ghostly. And congratulations on your 1,000 blog entry!
seryoso ka bai allan?
hey rose! thanks! nice to hear from you. see you soon. been around kasi for quite a while, hahaha.
very beautiful shot oggie. only you could pull something like that talaga. galing.
thanks oman! i'm seriously pondering on making it into a print nga because of your responses. paborito ko rin kasi talaga :-)
This is absolutely wonderful! It inspires me to hold a brush and paint again (after more than a year I guess). Can I possibly borrow this material for a watercolor painting?
hi ellen. thanks for the feedback. as of the moment, i'm contemplating on making the image available as a framed print and/or part of an exhibition in the near future. i hope you understand my predicament. thanks for dropping by.
