SikatPinoy National Food Fair 2016: Tasting 1000 Flavors of the Philippines in 1 Place

An overseas inquirer once asked me via email what do Filipinos really eat.  She meant to ask what do we Pinoys eat everyday, not that every-once-in-a-while foray into chef-ified territory where oftentimes, ambiance is dictated by the prices on the menu and taste could be psychologically filled by the chef's name more than the flavor of the food itself.  It's a question that's difficult to answer.

On the polar opposite end of chef-created gastronomy, there's the popular appeal of fastfood.  In some places I've been to, rural housewives complain about their kids' hankering for fastfood, oftentimes ignoring home-cooked meals for a chance to eat greasy chicken or burger meals.

Maybe, just maybe, SikatPinoy's National Food Fair this year can provide some answers to that question.  The sub-theme is intriguing to say the least - "A Taste of Every Kitchen Corner of the Philippines".   What could be cooking in Filipino kitchens across our 7,107 islands?
