Flights of Fancy Maligcong Birding eBook Excerpt: Page 3 Blue Headed Fantail
The Blue Headed Fantail (Eumyias thalassinus) was the first bird I spotted during my most recent trip to Maligcong, right from the veranda of Suzette's Maligcong Homestay. Previous to this, the only other fantail I've seen was the Maria Capra in Sycip Park, at the heart of Makati. And what a finely-colored bird it is! The bird was feeding along with others, the resident Little Pied Flycatcher, Eurasian Tree Sparrows, Mountain White-eyes, and Orange-Faced Babblers right there in the garden. The fruiting guava tree along with the pepper plants with ripe chilis were magnets attracting the birds, not really minding the presence of ogling, observing humans, from a bit afar, but of course. • Image detail: © 2019 Oggie Ramos | Nikon B700
