APL & Peas for peace

All this hoopla about Allan Pineda aka apl of the Black-eyed Peas being a Filipino is, I think, great. For as long as we don't overlook the great lyrics of their breakthrough hit "Where is the Love," part of which I'm re-printing. Ever since I heard the song and understood the lyrics from way back, I was blown away that such an anthem can become so popular, it can hit no. 1 in the U.S. the song is filled with meaning, powered by faith, inspired by hope -- something most pop songs nowadays are sorely lacking. here goes...

"I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder
As I'm gettin' older, y'all, people gets colder
Most of us only care about money makin'
Selfishness got us followin' our wrong direction

Wrong information always shown by the media
Negative images is the main criteria
Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria
Kids wanna act like what they see in the cinema

Yo', whatever happened to the values of humanity
Whatever happened to the fairness in equality
Instead in spreading love we spreading animosity
Lack of understanding, leading lives away from unity

That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' under
That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' down
There's no wonder why sometimes I'm feelin' under
Gotta keep my faith alive till love is found

Now ask yourself
Where is the love?
Where is the love?
Where is the love?
Where is the love?

People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)"

So, there's still redemption left for pop music after all... that a Filipino is part of this call for love and peace doesn't surprise me at all. To allan & the rest of the Black-eyed Peas, u make us all proud _c")_

P.S.  One of the hardest thing to accept about being able-bodied is that no one believes I do get sick. I've encountered this time and again. today is no different. My bosses thought I'm just issuing a press release on being a bit under the weather. But it's true, I haven't been feeling fully-recovered the past 2 days. last sun, John tired me out with drills -- I haven't been playing much kaya siguro, nagulat ang katawan ko. Yesterday, went heavy on my workout, but I am surprising myself. I've been recovering my strength a bit. like 6 reps of 630 pounds on the leg press, and 150 on the shoulder press machine. Kaya siguro hindi maniwala yung mga tao na I do feel sick from time to time. Again, I wouldn't allow my feeling sick to get in the way of being active and mobile. Although i need to probably recuperate today because I'll be packing and moving in a couple of days' time. As of this moment, I'm still deliberating whether to join the Central Circle group for tonight's badminton session. Let's see.
