Holding an event for Ayala land yesterday gave me a chance to eat again in Ongpin and wander through the three main churches in Manila: Binondo church in Chinatown, Sta. Cruz church in Avenida, and the always busy Quiapo church.
It's amazing how things have changed and how some remained the same. Entering Sta. Cruz church again after about 5 or so years felt like entering a time warp, way back when I used to sing for the Blessed Sacrament Choir. Yep, it felt like coming home again. Walking thru Manila, after living in Makati for the last 5 years, feels like an invigorating experience. And yes, Chinatown still smells of the esteros, the horsedroppings, of a hundred and one odors, but it smells, looks, and feels like home to me.
