Apocalyptic

"I saw a hole in the man.
Deep like a hunger that he will never fill.
It is what makes him sad and will make him want.
He will go on taking and taking.
Until one day the world will say:
I am no more and have nothing left to give."

Apocalypto, 2006, dir. by Mel Gibson

I seldom blog about movies here but I feel that Apocalypto bears more than a passing mention. No matter which side of the religious fence one is in, the movie raises environmental and world consciousness -- a considerable achievement at an age when most movies are mere escapist fares peopled by dreamed-of characters running on woeful themes.

Excellent movie but a bit bloody and violent!
Not for sensitive people!

seen the movie last friday. grabe ang creativity ng mind ni mel gibson. what i liked in the story is how the main character protected his family

i agree, it's violent sidney, but the violence is warranted unlike in other movies.

cruise: grabe ang creativity at vision ni mel gibson. ibang klase. the use of the natives' language made the movie even more believable.

Wow! You reminded me. I haven't seen a movie at the cinemas for quite some time. I should try to catch this while there's still some at the theaters.
