Workout!

Made up for Monday's binge with two straight days of working out. Having a training partner yesterday made me sore again - something I haven't felt in quite a while. I have to admit it, my workout can be getting stale. This calls for a slight tweaking here and there. A lot of supersets, giant sets and drop sets can be a high-intensity invigorating change. Whether I like it or not, am going to take today off the gym and the badminton court. It's kinda weird when you're so used to working out, you really look forward to the burn, the exhaustion. From my experience with people I've trained with and from what I read, they're the top reasons for non-adherence for most of the population. That's why I really see the value for a training coach or a personal trainer for most people starting out.

When
I started, I didn't really know what was happening to my body. I just copied what the other guys are doing. And I was just too shy to ask. My most memorable workout was back in the old YMCA near the Manila City Hall. I just watched these guys working out with rusty weights. And all I did was pump up seated dumbbell curls. Believe you me, I was sore for at least the next three days! The weird thing about it is that I loved it when it should have dissuaded me from coming back. Fast-forward (or slow-forward) about 15 years, and here I am, still interested and still learning. Heck, now my biceps hurt even just scratching my face! Call it masochism but there is truth in the maxim no pain, no gain. The body simply has to be stressed with exercise so it becomes stronger. Anyway, just a thought for the day.
