Superman dies

Christopher reeve, the reel turned real "Superman" passed away today from heart failure. While I'm not a big fan of the Superman movie series, Reeve was a fine example of a celebrity who went beyond the call of Hollywood to pursue real-life causes after a riding accident rendered him a paraplegic (or was it quadriplegic?). Another fine example of somebody who left this world a better place than when he found it.

RAISING HELEN - Having been down with the flu for a couple of days last week, found so much time in my hands to read and watch DVD's. This one starring Kate Hudson is great with a nice morale to it. Kate seems to have inherited her mom's endearing charm and flair for kikay-comedy. Yup, I'm biased because I'm a big fan of Goldie Hawn from way back to her "Private Benjamin" days. I liked how the story treated the other sister (Joan Cusack) because it didn't take sides with either of the two siblings. The bittersweet thing about being a parent is that if you love your children, you would do things that they'd hate you for. And that's because you want what's best for them. haven't we all passed that stage?  The movie also portrayed the high life and its incongruity with keeping a family together. In the end, one just has to choose what the heart has decided on.

PRINCE & ME - Being sick and hearing sad news about the passing of the dad of one of our bosses, I'm just too glad to watch another light feature, this one featuring another of my favorites, Julia Stiles. The story's kinda on the far-fetched side but the lessons are there. And it's not a bad way to pass off the time anyway.
