Previous to my Borongan assignment, I know only so little about the place apart from the fact that it is the capital of Eastern Samar. Admittedly, it's not one of the richer province of the Visayas but the warm welcome we got belied that fact. Sorting out the places we could've gone to but lacked the time to do so made me think of Borongan as something akin to bilaos we found.T he intricate weave parallels its many natural attractions -- from falls to caves, mountains to big surfs. I dare say Borongan can be the next big tourist destination, given a much-improved road system. That, and the new direct Seair flights to the capital, bypassing Tacloban, which is around 4-4.5 hours drive away.
