Borongan beauty

Previous to my Borongan assignment, I know only so little about the place apart from the fact that it is the capital of Eastern Samar. Admittedly, it's not one of the richer province of the Visayas but the warm welcome we got belied that fact. Sorting out the places we could've gone to but lacked the time to do so made me think of Borongan as something akin to bilaos we found.T he intricate weave parallels its many natural attractions -- from falls to caves, mountains to big surfs. I dare say Borongan can be the next big tourist destination, given a much-improved road system. That, and the new direct Seair flights to the capital, bypassing Tacloban, which is around 4-4.5 hours drive away.

dom, salamat bro. i really think it's gonna be more than worth your time to include borongan in your list. and it will be a contribution to helping uplift this new city na rin.

ron,

your comment was really loaded in its simplicity :-) salamat nang marami sa paulit-ulit na pagdalaw dito. will be posting a more in-depth article on my borongan visit when i get to sift through my images and notes.

Love the patters and also how the light sheds on it. Galing talaga ng mata.

wulfriend,
the weave and the way the light cast deep shadows that give the weave a three dimensional effect caught my eye from the start. ikaw talaga, binola pa ako :-D

it's nice to know people who find beauty in what seems like the most easy to ignore sight like these great pattersn of anahaw leaves. probably the roof right? (or the window?) i've seen a house made from this material and it feels so refreshing living there. we'll wait for the next images.

oman, i really don't know but i'm fascinated by details. re: idol, hahaha, naku, kaka-flatter naman yan.

rayts, this is the roofing of one of the establishments we visited. it really is so cool. nakakatuwa to find establishments that still make use of such organic materials. i'm just deluged with images i need to process for submission to my art director and editor but i promise to post a more in-depth article on borongan soon. thanks so much for your comments and regular visits.
